1859 Swedish Infantry Officer’s Sword
A very good condition rare Swedish 1859M infantry officer’s sword.
A scarce M1859 Swedish infantry officer’s sword has a beautiful blade. It measures 28.25 inches from starting point to tip with a slight curve and a pipe-back quill point. The blade is ornately marked with very clear etching, accented in a gold color. On one side, the blade has the word “Konungen” meaning King. The opposite side has the word “Fosterlandet” translating to Fatherland, followed by a Swedish coat of arms, and a shining star surrounded by light rays.
The blade is firm in the hilt. The hilt has the majority of its gilt remaining and in very good shape. The grip is a type of fish or ray skin. Some of the twisted wire bindings are loose in places. The hilt measures about 5 inches.
The sword comes complete with steel scabbard. The sword is about 33 inches long, 34 inches when in the scabbard.
