Of Renaissance Revival style, the letter opener with an elaborately cast scrolled handle featuring stylized foliage and architectural motifs, tapering to a plain polished blade. Marked to reverse with the winged-S trademark of George W. Shiebler & Co., produced under contract for Tiffany & Co., and bearing Tiffany’s Pattern XII designation.

Condition Report:

Wear consistent with use. Light surface scratches throughout. Slight deformation and tip wear to blade, with a mild edge irregularity, indicative of functional use. Hallmarks remain legible and well struck. No dents or restorations observed.
