Primitive Argillite Adez with Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea Dani argillite adez /axe with a lovely old patina. This piece measures 23″ x 14″ and was made by the Dani men in the Central highlands of Papua New Guinea, Indonesia. This piece was most likely made in the 1800’s as the handle uses the old method of attachment. The blackish stone appears to be original and has some small chips to the cutting edge. The handle has a nice caramel patina, and the cane wrapping/lashing also has a nice crusty patina. See pictures for condition.
