Dutch 833 Silver Chalice Cup by Jac. van Straten – Maritime Engraved Ships – Amsterdam Assay, c. 1918

This 1918 Dutch silver chalice cup was crafted by Jac. van Straten, a renowned silversmith registered in Hoorn. The cup features detailed hand-engraved scenes of 17th-century Dutch sailing ships in high relief, echoing the maritime pride of the Dutch Golden Age. Fully hallmarked with the lion passant (.833 silver), Minerva head with “a” for Amsterdam, the 1918 date letter “I”, and the maker’s mark “V.S.”, this historic revival piece stands 18 cm tall and weighs 277.64 grams. A beautiful and collectible example of early 20th-century Dutch silver craftsmanship.
