Carl Zeiss Jena – Hand Signal Spotlight 200 mm – Fl Blinkgerät Zeiss Fl 24425-1: According to the Zeiss Archives, The 200 mm hand signal searchlight is a lightweight device designed especially for terrain lighting and is adjusted for greater spread for this purpose. A cathedral glass cover plate is provided to increase the uniformity of the light field. In addition, the device is used for hands-free use for optical signal traffic between land stations or ships and aircraft. The crystal glass mirror with silver plating on the back has a diameter of 200 mm and a focal length of 50 mm. 12 V or 24 V, 50 W bulbs are used. The headlight range is 315 m. The range as a flashing device is 10 km during the day and 25 km at night. A lever switch for on and off is built into the left handle. The sign is generated with a push button lever by inserting a cap between the light bulb and the mirror. The weight of the hand signal lamp 200 mm is 2.3 kg.

 Good condition, 100% original paint, some dents, scratches, and signs of light use and/or transportation damage.
All mechanical functions work (fully functional after testing  with outlet with standard US A15 bulb *no included) – Post war electrical plug and bulb socket alterations likely.
Rubber eyecup  – minimally disformed
Visor device is fully preserved, the elastic bands on the lens mount are tight, the pressure switch snaps in and out, no bulb included.  I tested with an led bulb and it lights up.
Defects: damaged bakelite plastic cover and one rivet missing, signs of age and wear

Der Handsignalscheinwerfer 200 mm ist ein leichtes Gerät, das besonders für die Geländebeleuchtung bestimmt ist und für diesen Zweck auf größere Streuung eingestellt wird. Zur Erhöhung der Gleichmäßigkeit des Leuchtfeldes ist eine Kathedralglasabschlußscheibe vorgesehen. Außerdem dient das Gerät für den freihändigen Gebrauch zum optischen Signalverkehr zwischen Landstationen oder Schiffen und Flugzeugen. Der Kristallglas-Spiegel mit rückseitiger Versilberung hat einen Durchmesser von 200 mm und eine Brennweite von 50 mm. Verwendet werden die Glühlampen 12 V oder 24 V, 50 W. Die Scheinwerferreichweite ist 315 m. Die Reichweite als Blinkgerät ist bei Tag 10 km und bei Nacht 25 km. Ein Hebelschalter zum Ein- und Ausschalten ist im linken Handgriff eingebaut. Die Zeichengebung wird mit Tasterhebel durch Einschieben einer Kalotte zwischen Glühlampe und Spiegel realisiert.
