Oddfellow Silver Sash Badge by Issac Simmons Presented to William Gazeley

Highly detailed and lovely large victorian era Oddfellow 800 silver sash badge presented to William Gazeley in 1844.  Crafted by Issac Simmons, the badge features a riveted raised circular oddfellows crest, seal, and depictions.  The central shield with crossed keys, a sand timer, bee hive and the lamb and flag. The crest has a ribbon with latin motto ‘Amor Amicitia et Veritas’ which translates to ‘Friendship, Love and Truth’.  Signed Issac Simmons.  The reverse carries a presentation to William Gazeley as Secratary to the Queen Maiden Lodge in Beford district.  There is a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks dating it to Birmingham 1843 along with the makers initials PL. It is in very good condition with nice crisp detail.  It measures 130mm (5″) high by 100mm (4″) wide.  Total weight is 125.8 grams (4.4oz)
