Some American (Seth Thomas & Trenton Watch Co…) and Swiss watch companies actually made “fakes” meaning watches were not what they appeared to be. These watches appeared to be railroad grade but were actually 7 jewels and unadjusted. Likely sold through a sears or similar type watch catalog including a disclosure about actual specifics about the watch. Scarce to find today, this movement has blued screws, a very nice dial, and two-toned damaskeening.
